Early or late retirement

The retirement age at STIP is 68. You may also take early or late retirement. In My pension (at What if …… I retire early) you see what this means for your pension.

If you wish to retire early
You can retire from your 63rd birthday. Your monthly pension benefit will then be lower. Your stop building up pension earlier and your pension will need to be paid over more years. If you retire early, you will not yet receive your State pension (AOW).

If you wish to retire late
You may defer your retirement until at the latest 5 years after your State pension age (AOW-age). With STIP you build up pension until you are 68.

  • Agree things clearly with your employer in advance.
  • If you wish to retire before you turn 68, please contact us no later than 6 months before the desired retirement date.
