Early or late retirement

If you wish to retire early
You can retire from your 63rd birthday. Your monthly pension benefit will then be lower. Your stop accruing pension earlier and your pension will need to be paid over more years. If you retire early, you will not yet receive your state pension (AOW).

If you wish to retire late
You may defer your retirement until at the latest 5 years after your state pension age (AOW-age). With STIP you accrue pension until you are 68.

Things to arrange

  • Agree things clearly with your employer in advance.
  • If you wish to retire before you turn 68, please contact STIP no later than 6 months before the desired retirement date. Then you will receive information on how to apply for your pension.
  • If you wish to continue working and receive your pension benefit later, please also let STIP know.
